Jose Ciriaco Herrera, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Great Great-Grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Los Pachecos, on October 24, 2024. Leaving behind many broken hearts. Jose was born in Buena Vista, Colorado to Benito Herrera and Teofila de Herrera de Urzua.
Jose Ciriaco Herrera met his soulmate Bernadita “Bernie” Guillen of Los Pachecos in the 6th grade and they were married on November 8, 1947. Together they had 6 children and one foster son.
Preceding Jose in death are his wife of 75 years, “Bernie”; his parents, Benito and Teofila Herrera; Father and Mother-in-Law Antonio and Estephanita Guillen; beloved sons Samuel, Phillip and Anthony Herrera; Daughter-in-Law Florence Herrera and Son-in-Law Albert Smith; Grandchildren Priscilla and Michael Herrera and Adam Smith; six brothers, four sisters, 8 sisters-in-law and 6 brothers-in-law.
Jose is survived by his son Benito Herrera, daughters Meachele Smith and Yvonne (Allen) Herring; Daughter-in-Laws Becky Romero and Elizabeth (George) Madrid; sisters-in-law Ernestine Herrera, Fella, Virginia, and Esperanza Guillen, and brothers-in-law Tony Guillen, Richard (Maxine) Guillen; Grandchildren Angela (Aquilino), Steve (Ruby), Randy (Raquel), Allen N. Herring III, Joy (Eric), Andrew (Andrea), Karen (Clarence), Kevin, Samantha, Audrey, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, 3 godchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Rosary and Viewing will be held at St. Anne’s Church in Los Pachecos on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. A burial Mass will take place at St. Anne’s Church on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with burial services to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
