Jose - Age 83 - Dixon Gonzales

JOSE CELESTINO GONZALES, 83, a resident of Dixon, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan N. Gonzales and Cleofas Gonzales and son, Felix Gonzales. Jose worked as a miner in Leadville, Colorado at the Climax Mine until his retirement in 1978; the following year he moved his family to Dixon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He also took pride in his garden growing chili and corn and loved to plant flowers. Mr. Gonzales is survived by his wife, Bennie Antonia Gonzales of Dixon; son, Joseph Anthony Gonzales and wife Yvonne; daughters, Gloria Gallegos and husband Ike, Sandra Lopez and husband Ron, Nancy Medina and husband Joe, Frances Griego and husband Phillip and Julia Atencio and husband Jerry; grandchildren, Gabriel, Mark, Kristen, Faith, Valerie, James, Neil, Emilio, Phillip, Jr., Carlos, Antonio and Alicia; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Destinee, Daphnee, Neahmiah, Gary Jr., Arianna, Miranda, Kamryn, Georgia and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Peñasco with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. also at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Peñasco. Burial to follow at the Dixon Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Gabriel Gallegos, Mark Lopez, Emilio Griego, Valerie Trujillo, James Lopez, Neil Gallegos and Phillip Griego, Jr. The family of Jose Celestino has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
