Jose Abeyta

Jose Maria Abeyta, 88, Los Brazos, died Tuesday, September 21, 2016. Mr. Abeyta was born March 28, 1928 to Estefanita M. Gomez, and Juan Jose Abeyta. Mr. Abeyta was a life-time resident of Los, Brazos, NM. He served in the Korean War with the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Mr. Abeyta was preceded in death by his son, Jose Maria Abeyta Jr., daughter Lisa Denise, sisters, Cleotilde, Ruby, Gertrudes, grandson Caleb Hughes and parents Estefanita M. Gomez, and Juan Jose Abeyta. At 32 years of age he married Elviria Samora and raised three children, Teodoro, Estefanita, and Jose Maria Abeyta Jr. He is survived by his wife Elviria Abeyta, daughter Estefanita Abeyta, son Teodoro (Roberta); six grandchildren, Lisa Martinez, Rosa Peralta (Ryhan Peralita), Luis Abeyta, Cheryl Abeyta, Timothy Struck, Hannah Hughes; one great-granddaughter, Riah Peralta and many other family and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 5:00p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at Los Ojos Catholic Cemetery.
