Johnnie D. - Age 81 - Santa Cruz - Duran

Johnnie D. Duran, 81, a resident of Santa Cruz passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. He retired from the New Mexico Department of Transportation as a Physical Plant Manager in 1990. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and gardening. Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife, Elma Duran; son, Ben Quintana; grandchildren: Lena Lujan and Baby Chris Gallegos; parents, Jose and Simmie Duran; grandparents who raised him, Macario Quintana and Gregoria Borrego de Quintana. Johnnie is survived by his daughters; brother, Joseph Duran and wife Celine of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a wake service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Serving as pallbearers will be: Chris Duran, Carlos Batts, Pernell Herrera, Arthur Herrera, Joseph Paul Avila and Edward Avila. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be, Julian Herrera. The family of Johnnie Duran has entrusted the care of their beloved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
