John Martinez

John M. Martinez, 84, a resident of Tierra Amarilla passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 following a short illness. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his wife, Higinia Martinez and parents, Seledon and Magdalena Martinez. John was an avid outdoorsman as he enjoyed fishing with his buddies, camping, going for wood and butchering lambs. He also enjoyed planting flowers and tending to his grass, trees and garden. He loved feeding his birds and cat. John loved spending time with his family. He will be missed dearly. Mr. Martinez is survived by his children, Johnny R. Martinez (Alicia), Anna Jaramillo (Melvin), Matias Martinez (Pamela), Fabian Martinez (Gloria Pacheco), Vanessa Martinez (Eppie), Beverly Siciliano (Rick); 2 grandchildren whom he raised, Erwin and Ramon Martinez; siblings, Tony Martinez, Joe Martinez (Valentina), Percilla Martinez, Alex Martinez, Timmy Martinez (Irene), Julian Martinez; 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild on the way and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Santo Niño Catholic Church in Tierra Amarilla with a memorial mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at the Los Ojos Catholic Cemetery with a meal to follow at the old Tierra Amarilla Gymnasium. The family wishes to thank Ambercare Hospice and La Clinica Del Pueblo and their staff for all their help during this difficult time. The family of John M. Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
