Johnny King Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Johnny was born on April 13, 1933, to Johnny King Sr., and Aurora Armijo King and raised in Santa Fe. 

Johnny was preceded in death by his wife Luisita King, his daughter Irma Cordova, his son Allen King, his granddaughter Jovanna Cordova, his brothers Jake and Jimmy King, and a close family friend Sandra Sanchez.

Johnny is survived by his daughter Amy (JB), 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Gonzales; son-in-law Sammy Cordova and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and especially in the Pecos Wilderness with his horses Frances and PeeWee. He worked as a small engine mechanic and had many certificates specializing in transmissions, worked at Harold Brock Chevrolet and for Los Alamos County. He designed, fabricated, sold and serviced and rented Log King Wood Splitters for many years. He enjoyed being with his daughter, who cared for him the last few years of his life. Another favorite was going to lunch at the Chimayo Senior Center. One of his last accomplishments was teaching his great-grandson Jarren about the log splitting business his life’s work. Many people admired his beautiful lawn in front of his home and would look forward to passing by and seeing him watering it. Johnny served in the United States Army in 1950.

Services will be on Friday, December 27, 2024, with Viewing to begin at 5:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, with Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on, Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 10:30 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM, with Burial to follow at 1:00 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
