John Brian Gurulé, 41, a Senior Civil Engineer for the City of Albuquerque, who resided in Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2016. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents; Bernabe & Manuelita Gurulé; maternal grandparents, Frumencio & Eliza Rodarte; special grandmothers, Viola Barela and Leonardita Martinez; father-in-law, Patrick Barela; brother, Jeffrey Maximo Gurulé; brother-in-law; Andrew Mike Barela; cousins, Ronnie Rodarte, Gary Rodarte, Fernando Rodarte, Aaron Rodarte, Patricia Armijo, Gary Lopez, Oliver Rodarte, Jr., Jerome Rodarte and other relatives from his spouses side of the family, and dear friend, Jeff Gurulé.
He is survived by his loving father and mother; Maximo and Anita Gurulé of Rio Lucio. John leaves behind his beautiful family; wife, Sonya Gurulé; son, Justin Gurulé (Desiree Moya) and daughter Jazmine “Amor” Gurulé, all from Albuquerque. Sisters, Annette Sanchez (Ben Sanchez Jr.) and Michelle Esquibel (Norman Esquibel) both of Rio Lucio, NM; sisters-in-law, Felisha Tollardo and Andrea Griego of Albuquerque; mother-in-law, Patsy Griego; God-parents, Cecil & Mary Stark and Donald Romero; nephews and nieces; Kevin Esquibel (Maria Esquibel), Amanda Cordova (Victor Cordova), Nicole Sanchez, Ben Sanchez III., Josh Esquibel, Hailey Sanchez, Adam Esquibel, Andres Barela (God-son), Elijah Martinez (God-son), Kevin Fernandez, Zareyah Rodriguez, and many grand-nephews and grand-nieces. God-children, Marcus Esquibel and Eliana Armijo. John also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
John was crazy in love with his family who he protected and provided for. Our “mighty hunter” John is remembered for his kind heart, extraordinary knowledge, passion for hunting, fishing and being part of the great outdoors. In his spare time, he was an avid reader and learning something new was a daily ritual.

You will forever be loved and missed. A rosary will be recited on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. also at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at the Pacheco/Gurulé Cemetery at Rio Lucio.
