John Gallegos

John A. Gallegos , 70, a resident of Alcalde, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Josephine Gallegos Sr.; sisters, Bernie and husband Feleberto Martinez, Rose Gallegos, Valentina and husband Alfonso Chacon, Josephine and husband Sosten Mascareñas; brother, Sam Gallegos; sister-in-law, Sara Gallegos; Padrinos, Joe & Ida Salazar and many nephews and nieces. John was a gentle loving man who made time for everyone, young and old. He loved fishing, hunting and watching all sports. His daily joy was animals, especially his dogs. Everyone knew and called him Uncle John and he will be missed greatly. John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Florence Gallegos of Alcalde; sister, Charlotte and husband Cipriano Martinez; brother, Alex Gallegos Jr.; sister-in-law, Nora Gallegos of Alcalde; mother-in-law, Emma Sisneros; brother-in-law, Elias Sisneros; sister-in-law, Anita (Robert) Marez and many nephews, nieces, great and great-great nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde with burial to follow at the Alcalde Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Andy Baca, Vicente Borrego, Ray Valdez, Alex Medina, Joser Trujillo and Mel Medina. Honorary pallbearers will be Debbie Borrego, Betty O’Leary, Robert Ralph Marez, Cippy Martinez, Susan Medina, Nichole Borrego, Gina Borrego, James Sisneros, Lina Tanuz, Mona Martinez, Cecilia Lara, and good friend Daniel Maestas. The family of John A. Gallegos has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
