Joe G. Age 67 - Albuquerque/Taos - Abeyta

JOE G. ABEYTA, 67, a resident of Albuquerque and formerly of Taos, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 following a short and unexpected illness. Mr. Abeyta developed many skills while growing up where he made many, many friends along the way; always socializing and making new friends. He was well known for this cooking skills and became known as the “Burrito Man”. He loved attending the Taos fiestas with his family and many friends; where his friends knew him as “Pechanga”. One of his favorite past times was going to the flea market with his brother. He valued his time spent with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Abeyta is survived by his daughter, Bernadette Abeyta; son, Michael Abeyta and wife Crystal Cortez; brothers, Leroy Abeyta and wife Diana and Lorenzo Abeyta; sister, Debbie Apodaca and husband Lemuel; grandchildren, Ashley Chavez, Angelina Lopez, Miklo Abeyta, Marissa Abeyta, Miranda Romero, Michael Abeyta, Jr. and Melissa Abeyta; companion, Kathleen Brandt and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. Rosary will be recited on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taos with Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. The family of Joe G. Abeyta has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
