Joe F. Age - 67 - Chamisal Cordova

Joe F. Cordova,67, of Chamisal passed away on Monday, October 15, 2012 in his home, surrounded by many loved ones, following a short illness. Joe served in the Armed Forces from 1966-1968 and served in the Vietnam War. He worked construction all his life, and has had part in constructing many roads and bridges throughout the state of New Mexico. He also worked for Cooks Construction in Española for many years until his retirement. Joe was quiet but a very reserved man, he never said no when anyone needed help. He was always working on his yard, his vehicles, and loved listening to KDCE in his garage. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Joey Cordova; his father, Jose Victor Cordova; mother, Eloisa Lopez Cordova; brothers: Felix and Macario Cordova; sisters: Rebecca Fujino and Laura Abeyta; mother-in-law, Octaviana Armijo son-in-law, Carl Archuleta. Joe is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vicky Cordova; daughter, Michelle Archuleta; his granddaughter the love of his life, Analisa Archuleta. He also raised Noberto, Maureen, Brandy and Meilssa Armijo as his own. Joe is also survived by his sisters: Olivama Pacheco of Chamisal, Ross Cordova and companion Lillian from Rodarte, Maclovia Fresquez and Anselmo of Las Vegas, NV, Lenora Pacheco of Santa Fe, Rosana Abeyta and husband Johnny of Chamisal, Dina Duran and husband Robert of Peñasco; sisters-in-law: Theresa Mascareñas of Dixon, Kate Abeyta of Peñasco and Rose Montoya and husband Henry of Colorado; brother-in-law, Paul Abeyta. Rosary will be recited on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco with funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Chamisal Catholic Cemetery with military honors with the following serving the family as pallbearers: Paul Abeyta, Juan Abeyta Sr., Robert Duran, Richard Pacheco, Bobby Cordova Jr. and Wayne Mascareñas; honorary pallbearers: Billy Cordova, John Abeyta Jr., Denny Abeyta, Florcencio Pacheco, Kevin Martinez and Kenneth Romero. Special thanks to his nephew, Wayne Mascareñas for assisting Joe on his special needs, also to the Ambercare staff and to all of Joe’s family and friends for their calls and prayers.
