Joe D. Emerson, 62, a resident of Cuarteles passed away from a short illness on Friday, January 4, 2013. Joe distinguished himself through his service to his country. He served in the Army for 12 years primarily as a captain in armored cavalry on the Russian front where he was praised as being one of the most outstanding officers in the regiment. Completed his service at rank of Major and entered the employment in 1985 as an engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Joe was also a superb dancer, in addition to being an avid science fiction reader and collector of vintage comics. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Emerson. Joe is survived by his wife, Louisa McElwain. Services are pending at this time, for more information please contact the funeral home. The family of Joe D.
