Joe A. - Age 81 - Nambe Vigil

Joe A. Vigil – Age 81 a resident of Nambe passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ramon and Frances Vigil; brothers: Juanito and Victor Vigil; and sisters: Josephine Martinez and Alice. Mr. Vigil was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving as an Engineer Fireman 1. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Rio Chiquito, he retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory. He was a well loved and generous man to all who knew him. Mr. Vigil enjoyed fishing, his farm animals, gardening, riding his four wheeler and enjoyed the companionship of his Dog, Miagi. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vivian Vigil of Nambe; 3 children: Kenny Vigil and wife Gail, Barbara Serna and husband Jacobo and Renea Vigil-Rodriguez and companion Joe Anchondo; 1 granddaughter, Melonie Rodriguez and fiancé Nathaniel Porter; brother, Tranquilino Vigil; sister, Petrita Romero; and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to be held at 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Demetrio, Denny, Javier and Eleazar Martinez, Nathaniel Porter and Marty Valerio. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Felipe Vigil, Ramon Martinez and Ben Romero. The family of Joe A.
