Joe Salazar (Cheo)

Joe E. Salazar (Cheo), 75, a resident of Chama, raised in Los Brazos, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, following a short illness. Mr. Salazar was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Cresencio and Isabel Salazar; step-father, Carlos Madrid; nieces, Pina Valdez and Lisa Sanchez; brother-in-law, Guzman Valdez; mother-in-law, Vera Alcon; and father-in-law, Joe L. Trujillo. Joe was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Salazar is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann Salazar; daughter, Kathy Ortiz and husband Jaime, and their children, Ariel and Adriana; son, Fabian Salazar and his children Kylie and Bryson; son, Benjie Salazar and wife Jessica, and their children, Isabella, Annalysse, and Alayna; son Augustine Salazar and companion Jessica Hoyos; siblings, Ernesto Salazar and wife Esther, Estephanita Maes and husband Lee, Ruby Valdez, Carm Sanchez and husband Roy, Isabel Madrid and husband Billy, Mela Gygox and husband David, Juanita Atencio and husband Richard, Miguel Salazar, Charlene Lujan and husband David; special nephew, Joe Madrid, and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. A rosary will be recited on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama, followed by a funeral at 11:00 a.m. Serving the family as honorary pallbearers Joe Madrid, Ariel Ortiz, Bryson Salazar, and Jaime Ortiz.  The family of Joe E.
