Joe Duran

Joe E. Duran Jr., 60, a resident of Velarde, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose E. Duran Sr. and Theresa Duran; siblings, Pearl, Lori, and Sandra Duran and daughter, Angel Duran. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman. Being outdoors gave him joy, but nothing gave him more than playing with all his grandchildren and being the best grandfather that he could be. A very special thank you to Aunt Clara for being such a wonderful Godmother to him. Joe is survived by his companion, Erlinda Martinez; daughters, Julieanne Herrera (Clarence) and Diandra Medina(Aaron); grandchildren, Hezekiah, Aaron Jr., Miracle, Hope and Ariana; special Godmother, Clara Olguin and siblings, Julia Smith, Louann Atencio (Ben) and Rosemary Trujillo (Bernie) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Public visitation will being on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with burial to follow at the Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Ronnie Olguin, Orlando Martinez, Aaron Sheuermann, Jaden Baker, David Garcia, Phillip Valdez, Hezekiah Herrera and Aaron Sheuermann Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Miracle and Hope Herrera and Ariana Sheuermann. The family of Joe E. Duran Jr. has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
