Joe Martinez

Joe Dalio Martinez, 85, a resident of Las Tablas, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 and was born on September 25, 1932 to Isais and Frances Martinez.   He was preceded in death by his son, and parents. When he was 14 when his father passed away.  Mom later married Elisandro Romero.  He moved to California and married Efemia (Fannie) Lujan, March 5, 1953 and started a family in Modesto California. He was a very hard working man. He worked at the ship yards for awhile, Forestry Service, Tillie Lewis, Caltrans. He often worked on his days off picking fruit to make extra money.  Joe retired with the Labors Union in Construction after 30 years.   In 1996 he moved back to where he was born and raised in New Mexico and built their cabin.  This is where he loved to be where it’s beautiful and peaceful.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, road trips, gardening and taking care of all his animals on the farm. He had 6 sons, 3 daughters 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Joe truly loved his family and will be surely missed by all who knew and loved him. Services are pending at this time and will be posted as soon as they become available. The family of Joe Dalio Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
