JOE SYLVESTRE “CHUNE” GARCIA, JR., passed away at his residence in Embudo, NM at the age of 69 on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Sylvestre S. Garcia; mother, Maggie Samaniego; brother, Mercy Garcia and sister, Selia Salazar. He was born and raised in Rincon, New Mexico, December 9, 1940. Joe graduated from Hatch Valley High School. Joe retired from General Electric Aircraft Engineering after 35 years as a machinist. Joe led an active life and enjoyed spending time in the gym, and playing his guitars. He also loved to ride his Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle and spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed and touched by many lives. In remembrance of a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and best friend. Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gregorita; his youngest daughter, Marina Jo and eldest daughter, Michelle Luna and husband Dante; sisters, Mary Amador, Susan Torres, close nephew Robert Andrew Lujan and many loving nieces and nephews and close friends. Public visitation will begin on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 12:00 p.m. Private burial to follow at a later time.
