Jimmy L. - Age 62 - Chimayo Martinez

JIMMY L. MARTINEZ, 62, a resident of Chimayo, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 2, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noberto E. and Stella Martinez; paternal grandparents, Jose Rosario and Juanita Martinez and maternal grandparents, Santiago and Lupe Martinez. Jimmy was the owner of Jimmy’s Auto Sales, also known as No Down Payment. He was an independent businessman for 25 years. He worked with the Española School as warehouse supervisor. He was also secretary of the Española School Board for 4 years. His pride and joy was taking care of his orchard and watering his trees. He enjoyed going shopping and visiting with his many friends. Mr. Martinez is survived by his brother, Robert E. Martinez and wife Sandra of Chimayo and their children, Stella Garcia and husband Greg and their son, Aiden, and Sonya Martinez and companion Peter Chavez; sister, Janet I. Valenzuela and husband Jimmy and their children, Unique Aguilar and husband Donovan and their children, Sophie Valenzuela, Alyssa, Destiny and Nevaeh Aguilar, Mariquita Valenzuela and companion Roman Martinez and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Leroy J. Ortiz, Leroy Salazar, Alex Naranjo, Tony Pacheco, Jimmy Vigil and Joe Mascareñas. Honorary pallbearers will be all his nieces, nephews, and great-nephew. The family of Jimmy L. Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
