Jesus Alonzo Herrera, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 4, 2016. Jesus was a lifelong resident of Nambe, New Mexico. He was born to Eloy and Guadalupe Herrera on September 4, 1954. Preceding him in death are his parents and brothers Teodolo, Jose Maria, Timmy, and Sammy Herrera; Nephew Tommy Herrera Jr; Paternal grandparents David and Manuelita Herrera; maternal grandparents Jose Maria and Julianita Ortiz; brother in law Bobby Vigil and various uncles and aunts. He graduated from Pojoaque High School in 1973. Jesus had worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory and as an independent contractor. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He had a wonderful and loving personality and was a friend to many. He had a beautiful smile and the kindest heart. Jesus is survived by his brothers Eloy and wife Liz, Tommy and Donald Herrera; Sisters Lydia Archuleta, Minnie Vigil, Abby Salazar and husband Phil, Shirley Hernandez and Husband Charles, and Julie Roberts and husband Preston; uncles, David and wife Josephine, Lorenzo and wife Emma; and numerous nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Nambe.
