Jerry Moises Vigil, 57, a resident of Rio Chiquito passed away from a lengthy illness on Thursday, January 24, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was a kind and gentle person who was always willing to help others. He was a friend to all, and loved by many. His family and friends were the most important people in his life. He was a constant companion and best friend to his mother. His daughter and granddaughter were his most precious gifts. Jerry made his living by working in construction for McReynolds construction, mining in Grants and for the past 25 years as a surveyor for Paisano Surveying Company. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Moises Vigil; brother, Jake Vigil; sisters: Angelina and Maximiana Vigil; paternal grandparents, Emiliano and Sinforosa Vigil; maternal grandparents, Jose Inez and Marcelina Vigil; his uncle and Godfather, Pete Vigil; his uncles: Bernabe Vigil and Presciliano Cordova; his aunts: Lily Cordova and Maximiana Vigil. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Patricia Vigil of Ohkay Owingeh; granddaughter, Trinity Rooks of Ohkay Owingeh; mother, Simonita Vigil of Rio Chiquito; godson & nephew, Carlos Atencio of Chamita; brothers: Daniel Vigil and companion Norma of Rodarte, Robert Vigil and wife Renee of Rio Chiquito; sisters: Grace Vigil-Salazar and husband Henry of Española, Joyce Vigil-Sandoval and husband Henry of Rio Chiquito and Jenny Vigil of Chamita; nieces/nephews: Leeanne Vigil, Vanessa Sandoval and companion Damon Hansel, Teresita De La Torre and husband Eric, Ashley Vigil, Joseph Vigil and wife Kayla, Angelina Vigil, Joshua Sandoval, Julianna Vigil, Moises Lopez, Kyliegh Vigil, Carlos Atencio Jr.; compadre, Charlie Atencio; godmother, Adelia Vigil; uncle, Tony S. Vigil; aunt, Lucille Vigil; numerous other loving relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at Victory Faith Church in Española with a wake to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Victory Faith Church in Española with burial to follow at Cundiyo Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Carlos Atencio, Joshua Sandoval, Joseph Vigil, Eric De La Torre, Damon Hansel and Isaac Cordova; honorary pallbearers: Jimmy, Alex, Bobby and Benny Vigil, Feliciano Sandoval, Henry Salazar, Henry Sandoval and Charles Atencio.
