Born on February 28, 1946, in Alcalde, New Mexico, Jerry made his home in Ojo Caliente, where his passion for community, teaching, and sports left a lasting impact on all who knew him. On September 12, 1971, Jerry married the love of his life, Noline E. Villareal, sharing a beautiful partnership filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, Amarante and Teresina Villareal, and his brothers and sisters. Jerry’s legacy in New Mexico boys' basketball is unparalleled. He was one of only 20 coaches in the history of the New Mexico High School Coaches Association (NMHSCA) to achieve Level IV coaching status. With an impressive 413 wins and two state championships in 1986 and 1997, his dedication to the game and his players was unmatched. A die-hard Boston Celtics fan, his love for basketball continued until his final days, inspiring generations of young athletes. An esteemed educator, Jerry was recognized as a Who’s Who among America’s Teachers, influencing countless students with his wisdom and encouragement. He was also a devoted uncle, cherished by his nieces and nephews for his humor, strength, and love.

A rosary will be prayed on Monday February 24, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente with a mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow at the La Villita Cemetery in Alcalde, NM.
