Jerry Montoya

Jerry Montoya, 74, a resident of Espanola, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday September 30, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Natividad Montoya; in-laws, Jose and Helen Valdez. Jerry was an Air Force Veteran, who served in the Vietnam War. He worked for LANL for 18 years, and for the Rio Arriba County Sheriffs office as a deputy and for the Assessors office until his retirement at age 65.  Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Toni Montoya; daughter, Patsy Rocha (Juan), son, Joseph Montoya (Anna); grandchildren, Kaity Wolf (Marcus), Robby Wolf (Tori), Ryan Rocha, and Austin Rocha; sisters, Rose Valdez, Stella Randall (Emilio), Yolanda Galvez (Pancho); step-grandchildren, Nicole Rendon (Juan), Frankie Rendon,  Nikki (Beau), Max and Casey Salazar, great-grandchildren, Dominic Brayden, Aubrey, Jacob, and Nakyla; special friends, Dave, Blossom, Joseph Madrid and Buck Chavez. Public Visitation will begin on Monday October 8, 2018 at 6pm in the Sangre De Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with Rosary to follow at 7pm.  Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10am October 9, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3pm. Serving the family as pallbearers are Michael Valdez, Leonard Valdez, Robbie Garcia, Fernando Galvez, Chris Trujillo, Jimmy Vigil, and Eddie Maestas, honorary pallbearers are Cynthia, Marcia, Anna, Angel, Amanda, Regina, Valerie, and Elena.
