JEROME A. MARTINEZ, 30, a resident of Velarde, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 5, 2015 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Herrera; father, Jerome Martinez; grandfather, Avelino Herrera, Jr; aunt who raised him after his mother’s passing, Vivian Herrera and God-mother, Patricia Herrera; paternal grandparents, Acasio and Esubia Martinez; uncles, Nelson Martinez Sr., Nelson Martinez Jr., aunt, Mary Lovato. Jerome was born June 11, 1985. He loved his family and being outdoors; he was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed going for wood. In his younger years he was known by many by his rap music. His presence and his unique voice will be truly missed. Jerome was an educator at heart. He was kind and soft spoken and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones who celebrated the fact that he is at peace with his creator. Jerome is survived by his wife, Francine Rendon-Martinez and children, Symirah and Esteban Martinez, step-daughter, Monique Salazar and fiancée Roberto Montoya; step-granddaughter, Melianna Montoya; grandmother, Angie Herrera; uncles, Adrian Herrera of Chili, Lorenzo and wife Soccoro Herrera of Hernandez, Joe and wife Florence Martinez, Marvin and wife Edwina Martinez, uncle, Abel and Zennie Rendon of El Llano, Lawrence and wife Lorriane Rendon of Arroyo Seco, Joe and wife Erma Fernandez of Fairview; sister, Brandy Quintana; uncle who helped raise him, Joseph Herrera; God Father, Johnny Herrera; aunts, Amada and Eloy Barros all of Albuquerque, Susie Borrego of Santa Cruz, Mercy Martinez, Carolyn Guillen, Marilyn and Jerry Ortiz all of Rio Chama; father and mother-in-law, Tom and Clarabelle Fernandez Pacheco; special aunt Rose Marie Maes all of Velarde, and many other beloved relatives and friends. A wake service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at New Hope Church in Espanola. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Church.
