Jeremias “Jerry” Archuleta, age 85, formally of Ojo Caliente passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010. Jerry retired after 36 years in 1985 from the Atomic Energy Commission. He liked the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He contributed in the founding of the Clinicas del Norte in Northern New Mexico. He was active in the Ojo Caliente Rural Fire Dept.; was on the Ojo Caliente Water Board; active member in the Kit Carson Power Co-op and a member of the Taos County Sheriff’s posse. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Archuleta; parents, Mr. Jose Dionicio Archuleta and Beatrize Rameriz; brothers: Juan, Ben and Dennis; sisters: Carolina, Sedia, Rosa and Manuelita. He is survived by his daughter, Martha Jean Carll of California; sister, Julia Giron of Albuquerque; brother, Alfredo Archuleta of Santa Fe; 2 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente, burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe with the following serving as pallbearers: Jeremy, Christopher, Brandon, Manny, Gene and Delbert.
