Jennifer Rhoda McKinnie Abeyta – Age 65 a resident of Ohkay Owingeh passed away on Friday, March 30, 2012 following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Hamilton McKinnie; mother, Dorothy Hazel Hayward McKinnie; sister, Ruth Louise McKinnie-Braun; unborn grandbaby; father-in-law, Juan Abeyta; mother-in-law, Trinidad Abeyta; brother-in-law, Gabriel Abeyta; and nephew, Christopher (Sonny) Arquero. Jennifer worked at the Carlmont High School and Sequoia Union High School District. She also worked for Eight Northern Pueblos, San Mateo County Housing Authority and Mills Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Michael James Abeyta of Ohkay Owingeh; sons: Michael James Abeyta, Jr. and Robert Daniel Abeyta both of Ohkay Owingeh; daughter-in-law, Melissa Sue of Ohkay Owingeh; granddaughters: Amelia Michelle Abeyta and Chloe Ann Abeyta of Ohkay Owingeh; sister, Sandra Biehl and husband Joe of Mesa, AZ; brother, Paul Rex McKinnie and wife Nanid of Foster City, CA; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Calvert and husband John and Gloria Johnson and husband Mars of Ohkay Owingeh; brothers-in-law: Paul Abeyta and wife Flora, Ramos Abeyta and wife Theresa, Bobby Abeyta and David Abeyta all of Ohkay Owingeh; aunt, Bernita Brendible of Metlakatla, AK; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited atr 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Tosh Abeyta, Ken Biehl, J.R. Abeyta, Paul Biehl, Weston Johnson, Pete Aguino, Paul Abeyta III and Kevin Abeyta. The family of Jennifer Rhoda McKinnie Abeyta has entrusted the care of their beloved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
