J.D. - Age 45 - Española Martinez III

J.D. MARTINEZ III, 45, a resident of Española, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012 following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his brother, Miguel G. Martinez; paternal grandparents, J.D. Martinez Sr., and Rosalie; maternal grandparents, Jose Q. Valencia and Florentina E.; uncle, Wilbert Martinez; aunt, Sophie Hayes; close cousin, Eldon Martinez. J.D. was strong in his faith and visited the chapel frequently. He was a good neighbor and helped them if he could in any way. He was an animal lover and his favorite dog was Sheba. He was also an expert marksman and loved hunting and fishing. He was most known for his artwork in Spanish-Colonial Style. He participated in the Spanish Market and his art has been published in national magazines. He enjoyed collecting various pop culture icons. His favorite was Marvin the Martian and Snoopy. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. Mr. Martinez is survived by his sons, Christopher Quintana-Martinez of Albuquerque and Dominic Quintana-Martinez of Fort Lewis, Washington; parents, J.D. and Rita Martinez; brother, Paul A. Martinez and wife Marcia; God-daughter, Miranda Martinez; nephews, PaulAnthony all of Española and Gabriel Martinez of Velarde; niece, Lanytte Martinez of Velarde and numerous other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Española with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
