Janis D. Taylor, 85, died April 16, 2010. She was born in Oswego, New York to Earl and Ethel Dexter. She was graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Oberlin College and earned a Master's degree in elementary education from SUNY at Oswego. She greatly enjoyed a number of years teaching in Evanston, Illinois. Jan's spirit of adventure led her to sail to Europe under the Experiment for International Living program in 1958. In 1959 she ventured to Los Alamos, New Mexico to teach third grade. Soon she met R. Dean Taylor at the First Methodist Church young adults group and they were wed in 1961. They were blessed with two children, Scott and Kay. She devoted the rest of her life to her family and friends. Her passion for playing bridge was well known. Jan's many other interests included camping, family trips in the motor home, skiing, travel, and involvement in her church. She had a deep personal faith. She will also be remembered for her enthusiasm, cheerfulness, genuine caring nature, and positive outlook despite health challenges. She is survived by her husband Dean, their son Scott and wife Dottie, their daughter Kay and husband Michael Miller, and grandchildren Katelyn, Grant and Erik. Other survivors include her sister Marion Plumb, nieces, and a nephew.\r\nMemorials in Jan's name may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Los Alamos, NM.\r\nA memorial service it tentatively planned for May 29.\r\n
