Janice Martinez

Janice Veronica Martinez, 33, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M. Janice was born on June 15, 1984 to Wilfred Martinez and Carla Medina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher James Martinez; her parents; adoptive grandmother, Martha Martinez; paternal grandfather, Eliseo Martinez and brother, James Medina. Janice worked as a certified nurse aide for over 12 years and took great pride when assisting those in need and in return made countless friends. She was an incredible person and simply enjoyed spending time with her brother David, friends and family. Janice will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children, Anastasia, Noah, and Alijah; brother, David Martinez; sister, Tracy Romero (Dion); close cousins whom she considered her brother and sister, Jacob (Gabby) and Jessica Martinez; aunts, Eleanor Chacon, Myrna Romero (Larry), who Janice considered as “Moms”; Annabelle Valdez (Archie), Minnie Miera and Ruth Garcia (Ismael); uncle, Frankie Martinez (Lorenza) as well as numerous cousins, relatives and friends. Devotional service will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Victory Faith Church in Española. Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. also at Victory Faith Church in Española with a burial to follow at El Potrero Cemetery in Chimayo.  Carrying her mother to her final resting place will be her daughter, Anastasia (Janice’s babycakes).
