Longtime Los Alamos resident, Jan Sinclair, passed away on January 4, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Enoch and Pat Nelson, and siblings Ruth Schleh, Nancy Roberts, and Wesley Nelson. Jan is survived by her husband, Ken Sinclair of Los Alamos, daughters, Julie Sinclair of Lansing, Michigan, and Peggy Sinclair-Morris of Richmond, Virginia; son-in-law, Allen Morris; grandchildren, Rheanna, Lydia, and Quinlan Morris all of Richmond, Virginia; and sister-in-law and husband Emma Jean and Charles Mader of Honolulu, Hawaii. Jan was born in Ogden, Utah, and spent most of her childhood in Fort Collins, Colorado. She attended college in Greeley, Colorado, and then came to Los Alamos in the late 1950s to be a kindergarten teacher. She then met Ken Sinclair and was married 52 years. She also worked for many years at Los Alamos Public Library. Jan had an adventurous spirit and traveled to 50 countries with her husband Ken. She loved visiting with friends, reading, playing bridge, and watching Downton Abbey. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the United Church of Los Alamos. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Albuquerque Rescue Mission http://www.abqrescue.org/ or the Nature Conservancy http://www.nature.org/. The family of Jan Sinclair has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
