JAMES SANCHEZ, 83, a resident of La Puebla, passed away of a short illness on Saturday, October 17, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Aurelia Sanchez; sister, Mary Rodriquez, Pauline Ledoux, Madeline Martinez and Lucy Papez, brother, Pete Sanchez and Ray Sanchez. James served in the National Guard, Army and Air Force. He worked many years as a security officer at Los Alamos National Labs. He loved hunting, fishing, and loved wood carving. He was a teacher at the Senior Center and was known as “Master Carver” and loved attending Art shows. James is survived by his wife Amy Sanchez; son, Michael Sanchez and wife Judy, Steven Sanchez; sister, Isabel Shaffer, brother, Frank Sanchez; grandkids, Chris and Mariah Sanchez and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers Chris Cordova, Eddie Herrera, Robert Herrera, Gerard Martinez, Jerry Martinez and Jesse Martinez.
