James Rathjen Ph.D.

JAMES RATHJEN Ph.D. 56, a resident of El Rancho, passed away from cancer on Thursday, October 8, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, David Rathjen; brother, John Rathgen. James was a teacher of Science at Pojoaque High School and a professor of Geology at Northern New Mexico College for many years. He was a lover of the earth and the sky. His reverence for nature made him fond of being outdoors.  James is survived by his wife, Marylou Violante of El Rancho; mother, La Juana Rathjen of Midland TX; sisters, Linda Washer of Borger TX, Brenda Rathjen of Midland TX; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at the Pojoaque Valley High School.
