James Christopher Martinez, 45, known to many as “Sparky”, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday, September 18, 2016. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jose and Celina Dominguez, paternal grandparents Sigfredo and Genoveva Martinez, and loving brothers Daniel and Allen Martinez. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. James was a resident of Las Vegas Nevada for many years and moved back to New Mexico in 1993. While living in Las Vegas he was employed as a chef at the Binion,s Horseshoe. He loved cooking, camping, and keeping his vehicles clean. James enjoyed working on his cars and was very artistic. The compassionate love James had for his mother and father will never be forgotten.
James is survived by his wife of 12 years, Janice Martinez; sons, Adam and Alijah James Martinez; stepdaughter, Anastasia Serna; parents, Daniel and Evelyn Martinez; brothers Adam and Joshua Martinez like a mother Sandra Dominguez Solis, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a devotional service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date. Serving the family as honorary pallbearers, Shania Martinez, David Martinez, Jacob Martinez, Danny, Timothy and Johnny Garcia.
