James B. “Jimmy” Sanchez, age 64, a resident of Espanola, formerly of Chamita, passed away from Heart problems on Friday, February 12, 2016. James was preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo and Ruth Sanchez; son, James A. Sanchez; close nephew, Juan Martinez; brothers, Jose Orlando and Paul G. Sanchez. James retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory after 35 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and working on his 59 Chevy. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Mr. Sanchez is survived by his wife, Barbara of Espanola; son, Adrian Sanchez and wife Tanya of Abiquiu; mother of his children, Dorlinda Valdez; step daughters, Gina Chavez (Ross) of Espanola and Monica Dowdy of Arroyo Seco; grandchildren, Desiree, Ava Marie and Aaron (AJ) Sanchez, Aubrey, Tammy, Christa and Ross III Chavez, Isaiah Trujillo, and KarLee Dowdy (Mono); sister, Carmela Martinez, brothers, Donald Salazar and Eloy Sanchez (Debbie); brother in law, Greg Valdez (Barbara) of Las Cruces; his friend, Blue; as well as numerous other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque, with a burial to follow at the San Pedro Cemetery in Chamita.
