James Fernandez

James M. Fernandez, 44, a resident of Dixon, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017. He was preceded in death by his mother JoAnn Martinez and step father Medesto Martinez Jr., maternal grandfather, Robert Gurule; aunt, Pauline, uncle, David Gurule all of Dixon; paternal grandparents, Aurora and Felix Fernandez Sr.; uncle, Pablo and Leo Fernandez Sr.; all of Rio Lucio. James was a very kind hearted guy whom was a loyal Pittsburg Steelers Fan. James is survived by his daughter, Kristen Martinez (Samuel); grandson, Elijah of Santa Fe; father and stepmother, Juan and Aurelia Fernandez of Espanola; maternal grandmother, Ruth Gurule of Dixon; sister, Janice Fernandez (Herman) of Dixon; brother, Matthew Martinez of Dixon; stepsister, Sharon Trujillo (Craig) of Espanola; stepbrother; Gary Martinez (Debrah) of Hernandez; nieces and nephews, David Fernandez (Hannah) of Llano San Juan, Elijah Fernandez (Jaylyn) of Espanola; Daija Fernandez; Conrad Sandoval of Dixon; Angelina; Domonique; Diego; Michael Martinez of Penasco; Briana; Alyssa and Ethan Trujillo of Espanola; great nephews and niece, Eric; Derrick; Elias and Elianna; many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends to many to mention. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dixon, with a burial to follow at Father Cooper Cemetery in Embudo. A reception will follow the burial at St. Anthony’s parish hall in Dixon. Serving the family as pallbearers David and Elijah Fernandez, Conrad Sandoval, Herman Peña, Ethan Trujillo, Conrad Espinoza and Patrick Fernandez; honorary pallbearers will be Gary Martinez, Garland Thompson and Daija Fernandez.
