James - Age 70 - Chama - Towne

JAMES HOWARD TOWNE, 70, a resident of Chama, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010 following a battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Florence Towne and son, Greg Towne. He was born in Elliot, Iowa on May 25, 1939. He brought his family to Chama in 1967, after spending two years in the Army in Fort Belvoir, VA. After arriving in Chama, he worked for Chama Land and Cattle Company for many years. He spent the remainder of the years fixing equipment and vehicles for many of the valley residents. During his years in Chama, he acquired many friends and he will be dearly missed. Mr. Towne is survived by his partner of 21 years, Linda Britt and her daughter, Lana Breeze and husband Jim Ulibarri; her son, Aaron Breeze and wife Jolene; Jim’s children, Lynne Lowery and husband Les, Monica Champion and husband Greg, and Michael Towne; brothers, Curtis and wife Ruby, Jerry and wife Pam, Orlo and wife Cheryl and Kenny and wife Loraine; sister, Marilyn and husband Wayne; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. Cremation is being planned. Services are pending. The Towne family has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
