Jake - age 92 - Española Saiz

Jake Saiz, 92, Longtime resident of Espanola, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 5, 2014 surrounded by family. He was born to the late Ricardo and Rebecca Saiz on March 3, 1922 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Jake was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Saiz. The Saiz family has lived in the Valley for nearly 65 years and Jake was the long time proprietor of Jake’s Market in Riverside. Jake was an accomplished farmer and rancher, avid pilot, horseman, butcher, welder, and thinker. He was a loving, amazing individual who loved to talk about the LORD JESUS CHRIST, and was passionate about letting others know how much Christ loves them. He left his considerable spiritual mark on the community providing leadership in the Catholic Charismatic movement and Full Gospel Businessmen International. The family held prayer meetings and Bible studies in their home for over 20 years. Jake is survived by his wife, Elaine Andreakis Saiz; 6 children, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a memorial service to be held at 7:00 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Reception to follow at Anthony’s at the Delta. The family of Jake Saiz has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
