Israel Luna

Israel D. Luna (Izzy) 35, a resident of Espanola, originally of Chimayo NM. Born on April 25, 1989.

Israel was preceded in death by his brother Toby Vigil; his paternal grandparents Teodora Ramirez and Eduarda Luna; his maternal grandparents Mary E Vigil and Juan D. Vigil; and his uncle David G. Vigil. 

Izzy was abruptly taken away from his family on September 29, 2024. He was a very caring and loving young man. He was respectful and was always trying to take care of those he loved, especially his dearest mother Bernadine Dominguez. He was fun loving and kind to all who knew him. He loved to play video games with his two sons and spend time with his cousins. He always enjoyed getting to know people and was an all-around friendly person. When he was younger, he attended Victory Faith Christian Academy. He loved learning about the Lord, and he enjoyed going to school. He enjoyed cooking meals for his mom and caring for her. He worked at Dominoes and enjoyed getting to know the people there and working with customers. He was always a hard-working person and did all he could to try to support his family. He was always trying to help those who needed him. He was loved by all his family and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his dearest mother Bernadine Dominguez from Espanola, NM; his father Demetrio Luna from Espanola, NM; mother of his sons Holly Sanchez from Espanola, NM; his sons Carlos Sanchez and Angel Sanchez Luna from Espanola, NM; his sisters Mary Espinoza from La Puebla, NM, and Joann Luna from Santa Fe, NM; his nephew Toby Vigil from Denver, CO; his niece Destiny Vigil from Denver, CO, his niece Mariah Martinez from Santa Fe, NM, His nephew Ray Martinez from Santa Fe, NM, his niece Samantha Espinoza from Chimayo, NM, his niece Emily Espinoza (little Yvette) from La Puebla, his nephew Josiah Vigil from Pecos, NM, his great niece Camila Mae Quezada from Chimayo, NM. His Uncle Orlando (Lano) Vigil and wife Sarah from Kingman, AZ. His uncle Steve Vigil and wife Cora from Albuquerque, NM. His uncle Louie Vigil and wife Elsie from Albuquerque, NM. Uncle and godparents Phillip Vigil and Christine from Chimayo, NM. His aunt Shirley Quintana from Tulsa, OK. Aunt Yvette Devargas and husband Hilario from Pomona, CA. His step-aunt Regina Romero from Espanola, NM. His mother-in-law Georgia Sanchez from Albuquerque, NM. 

A Funeral Service will take place on Monday October 14, 2024, at 10:00 am at Victory Faith Church in Espanola followed by a burial at Nurstra Senora de Delores in Chimayo.

Pallbearers: Ray Martinez, Toby Vigil, Alex Monia, Manuel Vigil, Robbie Quintana, Jody Quintana, Elijah Vigil, Carlos Lucio.

Honorary Pallbearers are his sons Carlos Sanchez and Angel Sanchez Luna, his great niece Camilla Mae Quezada, and his cousin Roger Mortensen.
