Irene Age - 88 - Dixon Marquez

Irene Marquez, 88, a resident of Dixon passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012, at the Ambercare Hospice in Española following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on August 13, 1923 in Ranchitos, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents Macedonio and Fedelina Marquez; brothers: Manuelito, Ernesto, and twin brother Macedonio Jr.; sister, Stella Shefelbine. Irene was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Martinez of Dixon; grandson, Ernesto Martinez also of Dixon; granddaughters: April Ortiz and husband Jamie of Taos, Arlene Martinez and partner William Garcia of Peñasco; great-grandchildren: Tammie Ortiz of Taos and Ernesto Martinez, Jr. of Dixon; special nephew, Ronnie Shefelbine of Waukon, Iowa; nephews: Randy, Ricky and Terry Shefelbine also of Iowa; nieces, Priscilla Nierling and Brandy Marquez of Denver, CO. A family visitation was held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. at Apostolic Praise Temple Church in Dixon with burial to follow at Apostolic Praise Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Louis Craft, Jamie Ortiz, William Garcia, Ernesto Martinez, Mark Gonzales and Ernesto Martinez, Jr. The family of Irene Marquez has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505-747-7477
