Irene Martinez, 78, a resident of Española, formerly of Youngsville, went home with our Lord on Sunday, February 9, 2014. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jose Eugenio; her parents, Jose and Rosa Archuleta; father and mother-in-law, Jose and Rosa Martinez; brothers, Donaldo and Cippie Archuleta; sister, Louisa Martinez; son-in-law, Pablo Valdez, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Jose Eugenio, Jr., Oliver, Emijerio, Finnano, and Thomas Martinez, Horacio Chacon Anasticio Gallegos ; sisters-in-law, Doloritias, Ermeny and Tillie Martinez, and Antonia Chacon; nieces, Yvonne Martinez and Beverly Mendoza, nephews, Delfin, Melvin, and Donald (Nano) Martinez; and great-nephew, Gabriel Archuleta. Irene was born in Burns Canyon, to Jose and Rosa Archuleta she was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed being with her family all the time. She was always giving a helping hand to whoever needed help, she always put her children first before herself and never gave it a second thought about it. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her husband, Clarence; daughters, Rosie Valdez of Española, Mildred Martinez of Alcalde, Geraldine Martinez of Española, Tammie Chavez and fiancé Patrick of Albuquerque; sons, Clarence, Jr. and wife Lou Ann of Alcalde, Richard and wife Marlene from La Mesilla, Raymond and Danny Martinez of Española, 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; God-daughters, Ana Marie Piña and Elaine Martinez; sister, Vicenta Martinez and husband Leo of Pueblo, CO; sisters-in-law, Martha Archuleta of Española, Martha Sanchez-Archuleta of Albuquerque, Lala Gonzales, Horacio Montoya of Española, Eva Gallegos of Coyote, and Dolores Martinez of Española; brother-in-law, Frank C. Martinez of Santa Cruz and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at la Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada Catholic Church in Santa Cruz. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Santa Cruz with the following serving the family as pallbearers; Michael, Jonathan, Eric, Nadine, and Latisha Martinez and Dominic Herrera. Honorary pallbearers named; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her God-children.
