Ida Maestas

Ida Maestas, 95, a resident of Alcalde, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. She was born on July 31, 1922 to the late George and Ida Alire. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Gabriel; children, Roger, Walter, George and Donna Maestas; grandsons, Anthony Ruiz, Matthew Maestas and Roger Maestas Jr.; sisters, Stella Chowning and Lupe Henderson and her best friend Pancha Archuleta. Ida has left her handprint on every heart and will never be forgotten. Mrs. Maestas is survived by her children, David Maestas, Elsie (Toby) Trujillo, Peggy (Vince) Valdez and Jeff (Trina) Maestas; 17 loving grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and friends. Public visitation will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a wake service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.at Valley View Methodist Church in Española. Burial will take place at the Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde with a reception to follow at Valley View Methodist Church. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Ross Maestas, Joaquin Maestas, Julio Trujillo, David Maestas Jr., Diego Rodriguez, George Maestas and Noah Maestas. Honorary pallbearers will be Sabrina, Pam, Monica, Clarita, Renee, Rose and Victor. The family of Ida Maestas has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
