Ida Mae Annette Stevens

Ida Mae Vigil-Stevens, 63, a resident of Chimayó, NM, went with our Lord on November 25th, 2024. 

Ida Mae was born June 22, 1961, in Espanola, NM, to the late Juanita (Martinez) and Bonifacio Vigil. She was the youngest of three children and was preceded in death by her older brother “Bert” Wilbert Vigil, parents Juanita and Bonifacio Vigil, maternal grandparents Julianita and Severo Martinez of Chimayó, NM, and paternal grandparents Higinia and Leandro Vigil of Cundiyó, NM. 

Ida Mae was a proud Elementary Teacher who educated many students in the Espanola Valley. She obtained her bachelor’s in early childhood education from Highlands University in 1985. She married in 1989 and had two children from the union, Wenonah Ashley, and Cody Ryan, who she referred to as her “Pride and Joy in life”. Ida Mae was kind and loving, she cherished life to the fullest as devoted mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with family, laughing, cracking jokes and often thought of as “the life of the party.” She will be dearly missed and is survived by her two children, Wenonah Stevens and partner, Jerome Vigil; Cody Stevens and Fiancé, Casey Dawn; brother Jimmy Vigil and wife, Barbara Vigil; sister-in-law Chanda Vigil and partner, Leroy Rodriguez; nephew/caretaker Manuel Vigil; Goddaughter Marisol Heffelfinger-Vigil; Tia Susie Martinez; and many other cherished nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. 

Funeral Rosary will be at 9:00 am, with Mass to follow at 10:00 am at the Holy Family Parish in Chimayó, NM, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Following the burial, you all are welcome to join the family in a meal at the parish hall. 

Pallbearers are Manuel Vigil, Bonifacio Vigil, Santiago Vigil, Dwayne Sanchez, Justin Sanchez, Brayden Sanchez and Javier Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers are Juanita Vigil, Alexis Vigil, Victoria Vigil, Reina Vigil-Sanchez, Brayden Sanchez, Tristen Sanchez, Santana Heffelfinger-Vigil, Tricia Heffelfinger-Vigil, Cherish Vigil and Severo Martinez.
