HORACIO (HORACE) GASCA, 68, a resident of Rio Chama, originally from La Canova/Velarde left from this world to be with the Lord unexpectedly on April 2, 2015 surrounded by family and friends.\r\nHorace was a man of religion and faith. He attended many different churches to get a feel of the word from different priests and pastors. He made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land which added more hope to his faith. He made his Cursillo and was a former member of the school of leaders.\r\nHorace loved his family very much. He was always visiting them and attending family functions. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren, nephews and nieces sporting events. He loved all sports, going fishing, hunting, and picking pinon. He loved working at his ranch and was a jack of all trades and loved working on his homes and properties. He loved to travel. He visited many states and countries.\r\nHorace attended Saint Anthony Catholic School in Dixon and graduated from Española High School (Home of the Hornets). After high school he attended Northern New Mexico Community College in El Rito where he received his certificate to be an electrical technician and a machinist. After college he chose to serve our country and enlisted in the US Army. When he returned he worked and retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory.\r\nHorace was preceded in death by his only daughter, Yvonne Gasca; parents, Adolfo and Ermelinda Gasca; step-mothers, Mary and Alvinita Gasca; brothers, David, Eddie, Ernie, and Jesse Gasca; paternal grandparents, Pablino and Perfecta Gasca and maternal grandparents, Damian and Senaida Lujan; nephew, Davey Gasca; former in-laws, Celestino and Candelaria Sisneros; former brother-in-law, Epifanio Sisneros, and niece, Celeste Sisneros; Godfather, Damian Lujan Jr.\r\nMr. Gasca is survived by two sons; the youngest son, Miguel Gasca and wife Kim and their children Alexis, Jesus, and Rosabella; the oldest son, Thomas Martinez and wife Holly and their children Lilly, Thomas, and Isabella; siblings, Adolfito Gasca, Jr, Dolores Trujillo, Jake (Josie) Gasca, Charlie (Yolanda) Gasca, Pablino Gasca, Annabelle Gasca (Leann), Barney Gasca (Marlene); sister-in-law, Donnie Gasca; Godmother, Clara Montoya; a close friend and companion, Molly Martinez; former wife and mother of his children (Miguel and Yvonne) Bertha Gasca; former sister-in-law, Karen Martinez; former brothers-in-law, Faustin (Lucy), Juan (Ruby), Herman, and Danny Sisneros; God-children, Christella Velarde, Shirley Sena, Angelica Gasca, and Jerry Velarde; a very close friend, Juan Blea; special friends, Robert and Grace Price, Leroy, Bertha and daughters, Mary, The Garcia family of Chimayo, Karen and Roger, The Garcia family of Pecos and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial mass will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde, with a burial to follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesus Gasca and Thomas M. Martinez. Honorary pallbearers; Jeff and JP Lyon, Juan Blea, Juan Lovato, Faustin Trujillo, Manuel Vigil, Armando Rendon and Robert Price. The family of Horacio (Horace) Gasca has entrusted their love one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n \r\n
