Horacio D. Vigil, 79, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 19, 2016. He was born in Espanola, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque, NM. Horacio was a proud Veteran who served in the United States Air Force, and retired from the State of New Mexico Radio Communications.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Desiderio and Faustinita Vigil; two brothers, Felix R. and Gilbert R. Vigil; a sister, Maria Magdalena “Nena” Vigil; and grandson, David A. Vigil. Horacio is survived by his loving children, Kim A. Perea, Arthur D. Vigil, Sharon E. Valenzuela, Desiderio L. Vigil, and Antoinette E. Vigil; his ex-wife, Nettie E. Vigil; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Dr. John C. Vigil and wife Elizabeth, Ernesto “Arturo” Vigil and wife, Dora, Wilfredo A. Vigil, and Tonie Vigil Cordova; and numerous nieces and nephews, extended relatives, and friends. Horacio will be really missed by his family and by those whose lives he touched.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services-Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth St., NW, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 3424 Fourth St., NW, Albuquerque, 87107. Interment will be on Thursday, Februrary 25, 2016 at 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Victor Vigil, William Vigil, Desiderio Vigil, Isaac Valenzuela, AJ Valenzuela, and Alejo Vigil. Honorary Bearers will be Steven Kimber and Seth Valenzuela.
