Herman Erminio Lucero, 74, a resident of El Rito, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Filadelfio and Lucia Lucero; brother, George Lucero and Orlando Lucero; sister, Dora Lucero; in-laws, Cleo and Jose Alfonso Martinez. Herman retired from Los Alamos County Parks and Recreation Dept. Herman loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and dancing; he loved taking walks, and enjoyed life to the fullest. He served as a mayordomo at the San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito. Herman is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lucero of El Rito; and Jeffrey and Arron of the home; sons, Randy and wife Monica Lucero, and their children Jacob, and Derrick Lucero, Mark Lucero, Christopher Lucero and mother of his children, Marcella Thomlison; step-son, Robert Trujillo and his children, Joseph and Matthew Trujillo; sister, Coreen Cassady and husband James; brother, Lee Lucero and wife Elsie; aunt, Bennie Romero; brothers and sisters-in-law, Corine Archuleta, Irene Aldaz and husband Marcelino, Grace Archuleta and husband Pete, Felix Martinez and wife Lillie, Janet Martinez and husband Ronnie, Steve Martinez and wife Debbie, David Martinez, Jake Martinez and wife Maybel, Clarence Martinez and wife Cassandra and Melicendro Martinez and wife Geneva and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito. Burial to follow at the Placitas Cemetery in El Rito with the following serving as pallbearers, Randy Lucero, Chris Lucero, Jeff Lucero, Daniel Archuleta, Jared Martinez, and James “ Jimmy “ Cassady. Honorary pallbearers named; Mark, Jacob, and Derrick Lucero, Joseph and Matthew Trujillo, Brittney Martinez, and all his nephews, nieces and God-children. The family of Herman Lucero has entrusted their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
