Henry O. Garcia, aka El Gato Negro, 73, a resident of Chimayo born in Ojo Caliente went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Henry “El Gato Negro” was a very active member of The American Legion in Chimayo. He played various instruments and loved dancing. He was a KDCE announcer, good dancer, good singer, and loved being involved in the parades. Henry was a loving husband, father, stepfather, son, brother and uncle, and will be missed by all who knew him. Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Glorinda Garcia; father, Bernabe D. Garcia; brothers: Delfin Archuleta and Gilbert Garcia; uncles: David Garcia and Herman Archuleta; numerous aunts, uncles and other loving relatives. Henry is survived by his mother, Fabiola Garcia of Española; son, Louie Garcia and companion Sandra of El Llano; companion of 17 years, Aurora Salazar of Chimayo; brothers: Clyde Garcia and wife Tonita of Ranchitos, Ben Garcia and wife Flora of Chimayo, Johnny Garcia and companion Mary-Lou of Chimayo; sisters: Aggie Lujan and husband Cipriano of Santa Cruz, Mary Padilla of Hernandez, Eugenia Barela and husband Johnny of Española, Pat Trujillo and husband Audoro of Grants, Josefine and Pauline Garcia of Española; special uncle, Leo Garcia and wife Carol of Ojo Caliente; aunt, Ernestine Garcia of Monte Vista, CO; grandchildren: Camil Garcia of Ojo Caliente, Tanya Garcia of Chimayo and Luisito Garcia of Ojo Caliente; special nephews: Danny and Timmy Garcia, that helped care for him; like a daughter, Viola Martinez and husband Ray; numerous nieces, nephews & other loving relatives and friends that he loved dearly. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with cremation to follow. Burial will take place on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: April Olivas, Julian Lopez, Danny and Timmy Garcia, Adam and Stephanie Garcia.
