Henry C. Salazar
Henry left to be with our Lord on Saturday, June 24, 2023. Henry was born in Espanola, NM. He is a graduate of St. Michael’s High School in Santa Fe. Henry served in the Korean War as a member of the United States Air Force. He worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 42 years before retiring in 1988.
Henry met the love of his life Viola at a dance hall in El Rancho and married in 1955. After the birth of his daughter, Jacqueline, the family moved into a new home he built near his childhood home in Corral de Piedra. In his spare time, Henry enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, alfalfa fields and most of all, his beloved apple orchard. He enjoyed “coffee break” at Big Dawgs with friends. When he wasn’t at work or tending to the farm, he could be caught sipping on an occasional scotch on the rocks. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents Enrique and Adelaida Salazar, as well as siblings Gilbert, Lucille, Sister Marie Bernarde, Isabel, Helen and David. Henry is survived by his wife of 67 years, Viola; daughter Jacqueline Satches and husband Robert; grandson Matthew Satches, wife Rachel, and great-grandson and tocayo, Henry.
He is survived by siblings Tony, Richard, and Priscilla. Henry is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including special niece, Elaine and nephew, Jake. Honorary pallbearers are Henry Satches, Matthew Satches, Robert Satches, Jake Martinez, and Anthony Salazar.
