Helen - age 86 - Chama Martinez

Helen Rose Martinez, 86, a resident of Chama, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013. Helen was preceded in death by her son, Ismeal Martinez; parents, Jose Demetrio and Eufemia Esquibel, plus brothers and sisters. Helen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family very much. She always loved gatherings and cooking for her family that brought her so much joy always putting her family first and being generous to any one in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her but never forgotten. Helen is survived by her husband of 61 years, Orlando Martinez; children, Emma Duran and husband Arturo, Julia M. Lujan, Connie Vigil and husband Ron, Terri Tafoya and husband Robert, Orlando Martinez Jr. and wife Lolly, Ray Martinez and wife Roberta, Eppie Martinez and wife Vanessa; brother Benito Esquibel and wife Sofie; sister Stella Galbaldon; close grandchildren, Erwin and Martina Martinez, 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, plus other loving relatives and friends. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama, with mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. also at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama. The family of Helen Martinez has entrusted their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
