Harold Barela

Harold A. Barela, 34, a resident of Coyote, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Harold was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bernebe and Dorothy Jacquez of Gallina and Manuel and Teresa Barela of Coyote; uncles, Bernie Jacquez, Leroy Jacquez and Leonard Jacquez; his Madrina Rosalie Jaramillo. Harold belonged to the Local Union 611 as a Journeyman Electrician and was employed as a contractor with Los Alamos National Laboratory. He also belonged to the Hermanos De Coyote San Juan Bautista. Harold enjoyed spending time in Rito Las Cilias, his family Ranch where he had a garden every year. He enjoyed the mountains where he hunted and fished with friends and family. His pride and joy was his daughter Aieshah. Harold will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  Harold is survived by his wife, Charlene Martinez-Barela; daughter, Aieshah Barela; mother, Antonia Jacquez, father, Nazario Barela; brother, Jay Jacquez, sister, Nina Barela and companion Marcos Montoya; mother-in-law, Rosita Martinez and husband Fidel, father-in-law, Charlie Martinez and companion Molly Velasquez; brother-in-law, Alvin Martinez and companion Pearl Lopez; nieces, Erika Martinez, Kayla Vialpando and companion Matthew Gallegos, Martina Pacheco and companion Jacob Salazar, nephews, Carlos Martinez, Nathanial Montoya; aunts, Berlin Cordova and husband Lucas, Maryann Garcia and husband Eddie, uncles, Isauro Barela and wife Delight, Manuel Barela Jr. and wife Guadalupe, Antonio Barela and wife Marie Barela; Padrino, Johnny Jaramillo, and many other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Coyote, with a burial to follow at the Coyote Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are James Barela, Brian Barela, Gilberto Lovato, Alvin Martinez, Eddie Jacquez, Marvin Pacheco, Benavidez Garcia and Thomas Chacon, honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Lovato, Aieshah Barela, Mario Ullbarri, Kevin Braithwaite, Diego Vigil, Dave Manzanares, Hector Villareal, Pablo Apodaca, Zachary Jacquez, Anthony Vigil, Mark Duran and Carlos Branch, Adam Garcia.
