Gregorita Trujillo

Gregorita (Gregoria) Trujillo, a resident from Cordova, NM went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, following a lengthy illness. Gregoria was born in Chimayo on November 20, 1934, to Candido and Sarita Romero. Gregoria, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend lived most of her life caring for others; a caretaker to her sister Luisita, a wife to her husband Levi, a mother to her children, and a grandmother to her grandchildren. Gregoria enjoyed going to the casino, taking trips to Las Vegas, Nevada, and taking part in girl’s lunches with her daughters and granddaughters and enjoying family celebrations.

Gregoria is survived by her daughters Nina Torrez (Lawrence), Sarah Chavez (Alfred), and Evelyn Martinez (Dennis), grandchildren Sheila Vigil (Thomas), Crystal Martinez, Erika Martinez-Montoya (Angelo), Meghan Martinez, Lucrecia Tainter (Bobby), Valerie Gonzales, (Mark), Florence Sanchez (Leon), Donny, Jody, and Abel Trujillo, special great grandchildren Angel Trujillo, Dwayne Sanchez Jr, James Vigil (Kathy), Breanna Sanchez, Joey Trujillo, Dante Trujillo, LaStarlafay Trujillo, Vertagean Trujillo, Jared Gonzales, Alejandra Trujillo, Kyleigh Trujillo, Makayla Trujillo, Alissa Trujillo, Kyla Trujillo, Savannah Ulibarri, River Martinez-Montoya, and Jayden & Braydyn Tainter, and numerous special great-great grandchildren, special family friend Jane Garcia, special brother-in-law Ramon Amaya, sisters-in-law Augustina Romero, Dora Romero, Rita Romero, and Eloida Sargeant (Charles), Ida Trujillo, and Eremita Trujillo, and many nieces and nephews.

Gregoria is preceded in death by her parents Candido and Sarita Romero, in-laws Abel and Lucrecia Trujillo, husband Levi Trujillo, children Frutoso Trujillo, Nelson (Sherman) Montoya, Andrew Trujillo, and James Trujillo, daughters in law Tammy Trujillo and Charlene Trujillo, grandchildren Alfred Trujillo, Antonio Trujillo, Jamie Trujillo, and baby Joey Trujillo, siblings Tony, Candelario, Avaristo, Octavio, Luisita Romero, and Elsie Amaya, sister-in-law Amada Ortiz, and brothers-in-law Rodolfo Trujillo, Elizardo Trujillo, and Maclovio Ortiz.

Pallbearers are Sheila Vigil, Florence Sanchez, Valerie Gonzales, Crystal Martinez, Erika Martinez-Montoya, Meghan Martinez, Lucrecia Tainter and Savannah Ulibarri.

Gregoria was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be remembered as a generous, loving, kind, outspoken, and strong-in-her-faith woman. Her legacy will continue to carry on through her family. She will be missed by all those who loved her.

A public visitation will begin on Thursday August 22, 2024, in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home at 5:30, with a rosary to follow at 6:30, A mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday August 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with a burial to follow at the Cordova Catholic Cemetery.
