Grace Garcia

Grace J. Garcia, 82, of Chimayo NM, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2023. Grace was born on June 1, 1940, in El Rito, NM to the late Leopoldo and Librada Jaramillo.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Garcia Sr; children Gilbert Jr. “Gibbo”, Calvin “Polo”, Horacio, Dennis, Ernesto “Ernie” Garcia, and Gina Jaramillo. Brother Leo “Lucky” Jaramillo and sister Helene Fox. Grace was a woman of strong faith who loved her family unconditionally. She endured so much in her life but still showed grace to others. She had a smile on her face, a kind word to share, a joke and most of all a word of encouragement and silent prayer.  We will miss her all the days of our lives but know one day we will reunite with her, and she will greet us with her warm smile and tight hug.

Our beloved Grace is survived by her son Steven Garcia (Roberta) and grandsons Santiago and Andres Garcia whom she raised dearly as her own children. Special granddaughter Miranda Garcia, grandchildren Steven Garcia Jr. (Christina), Anthony Garcia (Danielle), Nicholas Garcia, Shyann Gonzales (Kyle), Ernesto Garcia, Justyce and Calvin Jaramillo and Jose Gonzales. Great grandchildren Steven Garcia III, Allayna Garcia, Kailey Garcia, Lukus Garcia, Matthew Garcia, Jayden Gonzales, Croix Garcia, Aubrie Garcia, Anthony Gordon Jr., and Mateo Gonzales. Sisters Anna Jaramillo and Jane Hinojos (Jimmy), son-in-law Marvyn Jaramillo, daughter-in-law Nancy Garcia, sister-in-law who was more like a sister Clara Jaramillo Chapman, special cousins who were more like sisters Molly Suazo and Juanita Ocana. Special Godson Alfonso Jaramillo and close nieces and nephews Denise Jaramillo, Loretta Martinez, Senator Leo Jaramillo, and Jimmy Hinojos. Serving as honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren.

Mass will be on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Holy Family Parish in Chimayo, NM. Burial will follow at the Nuestra Senora de Delores Cemetery in Chimayo, NM.
