Gilberto Marquez Martinez

Gilberto Marquez Martinez, 41, a resident of Estaca, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilberto and brother, Pedro Marquez. Gilberto was known by those who knew him as a hard worker and family man who did everything for his family. He loved his family dearly and loved to watch his son play sports. Gilberto also enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and tending to his animals. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew him. Gilberto is survived by his wife, Norma Rivera; daughters, Tania and Odalis Marquez; son, Kevin Marquez; mother, Paula Martinez; brothers, Jorge Marquez (Bernadette), Ricardo Marquez (Delilah); sisters, Ordulia Marquez (Hugo Mora), Bertha Cerros (Antonio), Rosalba Marquez; and close friends, Leo and Theresa Valdez. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada.  Serving the family as pallbearers are, Jorge, Ricardo, Luis, and Kevin Marquez, Antonio Dominquez, and Leo Valdez.  The family of Gilberto Marquez Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505-747-7477 –www.devargasfuneral.com
